TW Road Accident

she wonders if 
anybody else notices her 
other than the man at 
the promotion stall
as she stands in the carpark
a bag underneath her elbow

looking around her

relief evident on her face

as her partner drives in - 
circles
and slows down beside her

face in the shade of the window screen

she chucks into the van 
her bag

with her feet on the floor
sat in the seat
clothed
by metal and glass
wheels and petrol

teeth chattering

was she concerned about 
the forecast of snow?
or looking forward
to arriving home 

to turn on some music 
take off her clothes
dance and drink 
order pizza
and to fuck her partner

there would have been twists and turns 
on the country roads they took 

and a lorry
it was reported
that failed to brake

as their van drove by 

and crushed them into  
Dave's electricals
van.
