The Sad Ghost Club by Lize Meddings is a comic book, which is not my favourite genre to read. I thought I would give it a go and I loved The Sad Ghost Club. Maybe 2023 is the year that I read more comics.
I started reading The Waves by Virginia Woolf in January and I am yet to really get into this book. I feel like I need to sit down and read a good chunk of the book because I’m still erring on the side of putting it down and never picking it up again. The writing style is good but it’s so good it’s off putting? I feel as if I have owned this book for years. I’m sure I was still a teenager when I purchased this book in a charity shop. Why I have carried it around with me everywhere since, I have no idea.
I was racing through Red Sauce Brown Sauce by Felicity Cloake, and thought it was very amusing, but I began to slow down. It’s a tour through the UK, via bicycle, car and train, with the author stopping at various towns and cities to sample the different foods you get as part of a fry up. What I have learnt from this book is that opinions on what you serve in a fry up are entirely different depending on where you are in the country.
In December I started to read A Ghost in the Throat by Doireann Ní Ghríofa. The writing is a cross between prose and essay. I made the mistake of putting the book down and have yet to pick it back up. It’s one of those, when a certain amount of time has elapsed, it’s difficult to pick it back up again. It was exhilarating to read, and I thought it was interesting. The issue might be that I am reading a digital copy and I feel as if I might need a physical copy to read.
I finished reading Marple 12 New Stories by Various very quickly. I had stopped reading books by Agatha Christie and now I want to start again.
